A New Energy Label is coming!
Changes are coming within the world of energy labels, exciting times.
As on 1st March 2021 washing machines, washer dryers, tumble dryers, dishwashers and cooling appliances (fridges, freezers etc) will be sent to us showing these new energy labels. Some manufacturers will be sending out products with these new labels before the 1st March 2021 so we thought it would be best to give you all a glimpse on here of some of the changes and updates that you might see.
The Current Washing Machine Label
The current Energy Label for washing machines specifies three additional efficiency classes above A: A+, A++, and A+++, where energy consumption for A++ is up to 24% lower and energy consumption for A+++ is up to 32% lower than that of appliances in class A. The annual energy and water consumption in this Energy Label refers to 220 standard washing cycles per year.

The New Washing Machine Label
One of the major changes in the Energy Label for washing machines is the change in the test program to which all label values refer. Like for example the energy consumption which will be based on 100 wash cycles. The new “Eco 40-60”* program is suitable for cleaning normally soiled fabrics made of cotton, linen or mixed fibres which, based on their care symbol, are washable at 40°C or 60°C. The fabrics named may be combined in this wash cycle. The “Eco 40-60” program is the most efficient program in the combination of “energy and water consumption”.
